Hello and welcome to Beverley Has Read! Thanks for stopping by to read my ramblings on the books I have been reading recently.
I’ve always loved books. It started when I was tiny and knew Goldilocks and the Three Bears off by heart, so much so that I would tell my parents off if they tried to skip parts of it rather than read it to me for the seventy billionth time (I suspect Dallas was far more exciting than trying to ascertain whether the porridge was too hot or too cold). I could read before I went to school (smug face) and this love of books carried on throughout my childhood when I read the Famous Five and Secret Seven books and later Mallory Towers and St. Clares (I still harbour hopes of going to boarding school to have midnight feasts and play lacrosse. I am 37). Like most teens I read my fair share of The Babysitters Club, Sweet Valley High and Point Horror books and English Literature was my favourite subject at school (I ended up doing both an A Level and degree in it). I’m lucky enough to have lots of friends who are readers so spend a fair bit of time nattering to them about books or sending them links to Amazon with the subtle message BUY THIS BOOK and I am a member of a book club too.
I started this blog because I wanted to get my thoughts down somewhere. I read voraciously and sometimes it is easy to gobble up books like a box of chocolates so writing reviews became an opportunity to sit back and really think about what I did or didn’t like about the book and absorb it a little. I’ve kind of falling in love with it and it is hand on heart one of the best things I have ever done.
One of the unexpected perks of book blogging was discovering that people wanted me to read and review their books. I love to support authors and publishers with reviews and I am more than happy to take part in Blog Tours. I have participated in Blog Tours for such publishers as Bloodhound Books, Orenda Books, Black & White Publishing, Dialogue Books, Little, Brown, Hodder & Stoughton and HQ Stories/Harper Collins.
I am happy to read and review from the following genres:
- Modern Literature
- Women’s Fiction
- Crime and Thriller
- Nordic/Scandi Noir
- Historical Fiction
- Psychological Thrillers
I try to post honest reviews but I will never post a bad review. I do offer criticisms where I feel necessary if I haven’t connected with certain aspects of the novel but will always explain why but if I am struggling with a book or feel I can’t write a positive review I will advise accordingly. I only post reviews for books that I have given 3 or more stars to on my blog.
I promote all of my blog posts on my social media profiled on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and I post full reviews on GoodReads and Amazon on or around publication date (where applicable). I also post a link to Amazon on reviews but my links are not affiliated. I do not expect payment in return for a review.
Blogging about books is a passion of mine but I do have a full-time job and sadly only have so many hours in the day and therefore if I feel a book isn’t for me I will be honest and let you know. I don’t sell on books that have been given to me to review but I do lend to friends and family on occasion.
I am happy to receive books in either e-book format for Kindle or in hardback/paperback.
If you’d like to chat to me about reviewing a book you can e-mail me at email@example.com or find me at the following places.
Thankyou for your interest.
